Advertising policy

Our rules for paid placement

  • Featured listings are labeled “Featured”, capped per page, rotated fairly, and available only to clinicians who passed verification like everyone else.
  • Sponsored placements are labeled “Sponsored”, visually separate from listings, approved by a person before going live, and never affect clinician ranking.
  • We do not accept advertising for supplements, peptides, compounded medications, or anything that contradicts the guidelines we ask clinicians to follow.
  • Organic results are ordered by distance and verification status only.

What placements cost

Sponsored placements are priced per placement, per month, by the kind of organization buying them. The rate does not change where anything ranks and does not buy a different ad unit.

  • Community: $1,500 per placement per month. Hospitals and health systems, group practices, patient nonprofits, medical societies, and CME programs.
  • Industry: $5,000 per placement per month. Device, diagnostics, and lab companies, digital health, EHR and practice software, and insurers.
  • Pharmaceutical: $12,000 per placement per month. Branded and unbranded prescription drug campaigns, including disease awareness. 3-month minimum.
  • Category exclusivity: $5,000 per month. No competing product runs on the condition pages you buy, for as long as the campaign runs.

Clinician listings are separate and are not advertising: a Standard listing is $50 a month and a Featured listing is $200 a month. Neither buys a better organic position.

Prescription drug advertising

Branded and unbranded prescription drug campaigns run at the pharmaceutical rate and follow extra rules.

  • The advertiser holds its own medical, legal, and regulatory approval for every creative. We review a second time against this policy before anything runs.
  • A branded creative must name the product with its established name, state the approved indication, and link visibly to the full prescribing information and the safety information. Ads that leave these out are declined.
  • No off-label claims, no claims we cannot trace to the label or a published trial, and no comparative claim without a citation.
  • Ads may not be styled to look like editorial content, a guideline page, or a clinician listing.
  • We do not sell or share patient data, and we do not place third-party tracking pixels for advertisers. Impressions and clicks are counted on our own servers, without identifying the visitor.
  • Adverse event reports are not collected here. Anyone who contacts us about a side effect is directed to the manufacturer and to FDA MedWatch.

What we decline

We turn down, and refund, campaigns for:

  • Supplements, peptides, or compounded medications sold as treatment.
  • Products or claims that contradict the current major society guidelines our listed clinicians attest to.
  • Anti-vaccine or anti-evidence messaging of any kind.
  • Anything that implies a listed clinician endorses a product, or that a sponsor's placement affects who ranks where.

A sponsorship never influences vetting, approval, ranking, or removal. Sponsors get no access to clinician or patient data.
